Greg Englert's Louis Armstrong Birthday Band

Jazzleague proudly presents a special Sunday afternoon event: a Birthday Tribute to the legendary Louis Armstrong, led by newly appointed Jazzleague Patron Greg Englert.

From Armstrong’s humble beginnings in New Orleans to his global fame with timeless hits like “What a Wonderful World”, this musical journey celebrates his extraordinary life and legacy. Known for his unique and powerful trumpet playing, Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong changed the face of jazz—and Greg Englert and his band will bring his story to life, note by note.

Expect three full hours of vibrant Traditional/New Orleans Jazz. With the Park View Room’s dance floor ready, it’s the perfect setting to swing, sway, and celebrate with fellow jazz lovers.

About Greg Englert
Greg Englert is a gifted multi-instrumentalist, bandleader (Tuggerah Lakes Show Band and more), music historian, and filmmaker. He also operates his own recording studio. In July, when Jazzleague awarded three $2000 scholarships to emerging jazz talents, Greg generously contributed a recording session for talented vocalist Elise Leonard.

Why You’ll Love This Show
Louis Armstrong, affectionately known as Satchmo, rose from the streets of New Orleans to become a beloved global icon. His collaborations with Ella Fitzgerald are among the greatest vocal-jazz recordings of all time.

Whether you want to parade down “Bourbon Street”, stroll up “Blueberry Hill”, say “Hello, Dolly!”, or simply soak up the sounds—don’t miss this unforgettable tribute in Gosford on the first Sunday in August.
