Formed in September 2008 by siblings Sheriden and Jason Nelson, Half Nelson began with a simple mission: to bring the infectious energy of early jazz and swing to live audiences.

What started as a shared musical passion between a vocalist and a trombonist quickly grew into a premier six-piece ensemble. Based in Newcastle, the band has spent nearly two decades reimagining the classic sounds of New Orleans jazz, 1920s hot swing, and mid-century big band hits.

Inspired by legends like Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, and Duke Ellington, Half Nelson has become a staple of the New South Wales music scene, delivering unforgettable performances at festivals, weddings, and corporate events across the region.
